An Andean brand for the Andean Community

In May 26, 2019, Bolivia assumed the Pro tempore Presidency of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN, for its Spanish acronym) with the challenge of creating an Andean brand to distinguish products that are exported to other continents.

"We want to have an Andean brand as a hallmark that all products from the Andean region can carry" said Bolivia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Integration, Benjamín Blanco. "As each nation has its own Country Brand, we want to design and develop a CAN brand so that foreign markets, mainly in Europe, recognize the value the characteristics of an Andean product”, he added.

Celebrating in 2019 its 50th anniversary, the Andean Community is a free trade area with the objective of creating a customs union comprising the South American countries of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
