Markets trust generate increase exports for Costa Rica

Costa Rican exports experienced a 8 percent increase during the first quarter of 2018, according to data from the Ministry of Foreign Trade published by La NaciĆ³n. Exports between January and March 2018 totaled USD 2,738 million (USD 206 million more than the same period of 2017) a number that showed improvement in all geographic regions of the world, including South America, a market that experienced large contractions in the past.

Alexander Mora, Minister of Foreign Trade, commented that the increase was due to three factors: the confidence that exists in international markets towards Costa Rica economic and social development, the expansion of commercial promotion platforms, and the training that local exporting companies have received to improve their performance in international markets.

Medical supplies, pineapple, syrups for beverages, palm oil, antisera and sugar are the main products that have sustain abroad sales growth during 2018. Juices, fruit concentrates, preparation for beverages, canned tropical fruits and diapers are the ones that have slowed down exports.
