Sport professionalization and intellectual property

The National Registry Center (CNR) and the National Sports Institute (INDES) of El Salvador joined forces to promote the importance of intellectual property in sports as a factor of professionalization, innovation, protection and development. Both institutions organized a forum to discuss the challenges and opportunities of IP in the world of sports, were athletes, teams, leagues and events brands have become increasingly valued by fans and companies.

“Innovation and creativity are the fundamental engines in sports. Inventors and creators work behind the scenes to create new opportunities for athletes and athletes to improve their brands, promoting greater participation and enjoyment,” the CNR stated in a press release. “In El Salvador there are many recognized sports brands that are registered in the CNR and there is a lot of potential to continue strengthening the relationship between intellectual property services and sports”, it added.

Intellectual Property rights, image, licensing agreements, intangible assets, advertisement and broadcasts were some of the topics talked during the forum.
