SMEs development through the United Nations

By Bufete Mejía & Asociados - 01/09/2020

With the purpose that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) can build and consolidate businesses based on social, environmental and economic pillars, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has created a sustainable businesses toolbox in Honduras.

Its purpose is to help companies in four critical stages during the development and consolidation of their businesses: (1) the understanding stage, (2) the internal and external evaluation stage, (3) the business model testing and (4) the continuous improvement stage.

The platform was created following the United Nations Business Call to Action (BCtA) program, which aims to accelerate progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by challenging companies to develop inclusive business models that engage people at the base of the economic pyramid.

BCtA member companies are market leaders that provide examples of successful, profitable and scalable models for reaching poor communities and contributing to global development.
