With the support of the IDB Honduras is ready to boost its orange economy

Since 2010, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been encouraging in Latin America and the Caribbean the promotion of the orange economy as a key element for the region’s development.

The IDB uses such term to describe the cultural and creative industries, which include architecture, audiovisual arts, digital services, fashion, graphic design, industrial design, handcrafts, music and software, among others. In 2015, those industries generated more than $124 billion in revenues and provided jobs to more than 1.9 million people in the region.

In September 3, 2018, Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández was informed by the IDB representative in Honduras, Eduardo Almeida, that the bank is working on a proposal to invest funds in local orange economy initiatives.
