The Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) organized the "National Online Workshop for the Patent Applications Drafting", which was held for creators, universities, research centers and patenting centers.
To help users improve their patent drafting skills and techniques, WIPO offers a patent drafting training program, held regularly as part of WIPO’s human capacity building activities.
The workshop looked to improve the skills of those filing patent applications for the well functioning of the patent system at the national, regional and international levels, as iinventors, patent professionals and other users of the patent system may not necessarily have all the fundamental knowledge and expertise they need to draft and file a patent application.
“Filing a carefully crafted patent application is the first effective step towards obtaining appropriate protection for inventions and thus for making an effective use of the patent system,” the WIPO stated in a press release.
“Mexico supports academic and scientific institutions to improve their capabilities in patent drafting and is committed to develop smarter and faster processes, bringing protection tools closer to Mexican inventors,” added Juan Lozano, Director General of IMPI.
