The National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) of Peru has denied the entrance into the country of counterfeited respirators and face masks, after a joint effort with American multinational 3M.
To help combat COVID-19 related fraud, 3M has worked with customs and law enforcement agencies around the world to seize millions of counterfeited respirators and face masks, either as the products are moving through customs, or in targeted raids against suspected resellers and manufacturers of counterfeit products. 3M has established hotlines around the world to help end-users and purchasers identify authentic 3M products and ensure products are from authorized distributors.
Since the coronavirus pandemic started, frauds related with medicine products and services have been investigated reported globally: false or deceptive social media posts, fraudulent e-commerce offerings and deceptive domain names are part of the illegal practices carried out by third parties.
Major e-marketplace operators have also been called by governments and companies to detect and disrupt fraudulent and counterfeit offers, including Amazon, Alibaba, Mercadolibre, Lazada, eBay, Flipkart, Shopee, Made-in-China and several others.
